SFP
The D-Link SFP is a single fiber passive optical transceiver module that can be used in conjunction with any standard 10/100 Ethernet switch or router.
This device allows you to connect multiple devices to your network using a single cable without having to worry about running additional cables throughout your home or office. Small form-factor pluggable, or SFP, devices are hot-swappable interfaces used primarily in network and storage switches.
The SFP ports on a switch and SFP modules enable the switch to connect to fiber and Ethernet cables of different types and speeds.
Features
The SFP is a device that transforms serial electrical signals to serial optical signals and back. SFP modules are hot-swappable and carry the switch's ID and system information. It's a small, hot-pluggable network interface module that can be used for telecommunications and data connections.
On networking devices, an SFP interface is a modular slot for a media-specific transceiver that connects a fiber-optic cable or, in some cases, a copper cable.
